Curved surfaces present a challenge for installers, but not for GYPSUN panels. In this article, we'll share professional techniques for working with non-standard forms.
Types of Curved Surfaces
Depending on the radius of curvature, different techniques are used:
- Large radius (R > 1000 mm) — standard panels with kerfs
- Medium radius (R 300-1000 mm) — flexible panels
- Small radius (R < 300 mm) — special orders
Parallel Kerf Technique
The most common method for large radius:
- Calculate the number of kerfs required: N = π × R / pitch
- Make kerfs on 2/3 of the panel depth from the rear side
- Kerf pitch: 20-30 mm for R > 500 mm
- Carefully bend the panel without breaking
- Secure to frame and fill the kerfs
